Zushi Beach has been awarded the Blue Flag for the third consecutive year since 2022. To keep this beach clean, a dedicated group of 50 volunteers and coordinators gathered at Zushi Beach for the beach clean-up event. Among the participants were enthusiastic girls from a local cheerleading school ‘Lino Keikies’ adding a spirited and energetic presence to the activity.
Arrival and Briefing: Participants arrived at 8:30 AM and were given a brief orientation on the proper way to collect and sort trash.
Distribution of Supplies: Volunteers were provided with trash bags and tongs. The group was divided into smaller teams to cover different sections of the beach efficiently.
Clean-up Effort: Despite being the highest season for beachgoers, we were pleasantly surprised to find less trash than anticipated. This indicates that the efforts to keep the beach clean are having a positive impact.
Types of Trash Collected: The most common items collected were cigarette butts and small pieces of plastic debris.
Community Engagement: The event saw active participation from local residents and visitors, demonstrating strong community engagement and support for environmental conservation efforts. The reduced amount of litter suggests an improvement in beachgoers' habits and an effective waste management system.
