Oki Clean No.7

いつもよりはずっとゴミの少ない日でした！キレイなのはうれしいですが、今日は近隣住民の方にお会いし、利用回数の少ないビジターのマナー(観光客に限らず県民も含む)の低さへの嘆きをお伺いしました。

キャンプやBBQを含むビーチ利用者が持ち込んだゴミ(燃えるゴミ、生ゴミ)で虫が大発生し、昨年大変な状況が起こったそう。やっと元に戻りつつあるが、今年も利用者が多いため、その懸念があるとのことでした。

私たちの取り組んでいるビーチクリーニングの方針もそうですが、ビーチにあるのは自然に存在する物だけ。いくら生物分解されるものでも、人間の手により持ち込まれたものは、そこから撤収されることが自然な構成の保全だと考えています。お家の庭では個人所有地なのでそういう生ゴミポイも良いと思いますが、ビーチや公共のスペースでは、BBQで使った卵の殻や野菜片、その種も基本的にゴミとして扱われるべきなんだなぁと痛感しました。(沖縄で戸建てされてる田舎では、生ゴミを自分のお庭の端にぽいっと捨てる方多いようです。そして、しばらくするとそのまま成長して実まで収穫できちゃうということもザラにあるそう！羨ましい限りですが、それじゃビーチではそうもいかないのですね。)

ということで、生物分解されるモノでも人間の手によって持ち込まれたら、それは弊害を防ぐために取り除かれるべきなのだなぁという結論でした。

と言うより清掃による視覚的、感覚的なだけでなく、このような実質的被害を防ぐことになりえるという点が大変理解できてお勉強になりました。

引き続きクリーニングに精進します。

Less trash today! We are so happy about it, yay! 
Today we have encountered a frequent local visitor complaining about temporary visitors'(local and from other prefectures/countries)  poor general manners. 
At this beach, they had some incidences with hordes/infestations of bugs from garbage left by visitors last year and it seems finally the area had recovered but due to the increase of visitors, they are concerned the same thing will occur this year. 

We have seen some Okinawan families litter garbage in the corner of their own yards. And many times it successfully bears fruits eventually regardless of their intention. But we believe it should be different in public spaces like the beach.  

All stuff brought by humans needs to be taken away out of the site to avoid side effects from it even they are biodegradable.

We must leave the beach or areas we use the same or better than we found them as a basic rule.
