マイクロクリーンアップキャンペーン＠ミクロネシア連邦コスラエ島【World Cleanup Day】

今回はじめてミクロネシア連邦の東端の島コスラエ島からもWorld Cleanup Day 2019に参加しました。

I joined World Cleanup Day 2019 for the first time this time from Kosrae.

これは現地で環境活動をおこなっているホテルPacific Treelodge Resortのオーナーであるマリアに私から声をかけたところ是非ということで実施することができました。

I spoke to her who runs a hotel(Pacific Treelodge Resort) and is doing environmental activities in the area.

そして７月にミクロネシア連邦の写真展を東京で開催したときに来てくれたコスラエに赴任するJICAの新隊員も参加したいとのことでしたので、彼らにもお願いしました。

I also asked them to join a new member of JICA who was assigned to Kosrae who came to me when the photo exhibition of the Federated States of Micronesia was held in Tokyo in July.

「どこが汚れているのだろうか」今回私にとって初めての場所だったので実施箇所はマリアにお願いしました。

I didn't know where to clean, so she told me where it was dirty.

そしてビーチ沿いの道路とカヤックを使ってのマングローブの水路の２カ所を実施しました。

And we cleaned the beach and mangrove waterways.

ここも酷暑で私はビーチ沿いの清掃のみで断念･･････。最初マリア「MASAは道路とマングローブ2カ所やるよね？」と言われていたのですが体力が続きませんでした。その代わりにマングローブの水路はJICAの若手、ローカルの人たちがこなしてくれました。

Anyway, it was so hot that I couldn't clean the mangroves.

Instead of me, JICA staff worked hard to clean the mangroves.

終わったあとはピザでお疲れ様でした！

After the activity, she behaved pizza.

マリア自身、イタリア人なためホテルでも美味しいピザを出してくれます。

Since she is Italian, we can eat delicious pizza at her hotel.

彼女は現地コスラエで学校をまわって環境教育を行っている他、オニヒトデの駆除もおこなっております。

She conducts environmental education in Kosrae. In addition, she is removing the starfish.

そのためダイビング指導団体PADIや日本によつゴミ廃棄物支援J-Prismからも表彰されています。

That is why she has also been commended by PADI and J-Prism.

そして私は私が起ち上げた任意団体マイクロクリーンアップキャンペーンのひとつとして来年もコスラエからWorld Cleanup Dayに参加します。

And I will participate in World Cleanup Day from Kosrae next year as one of the voluntary organization micro cleanup campaigns I started.
